4) A Midi Keyboard Controller 
This is the small piano/synthesizer device that plugs into a computer and is used to play the musical instruments that are within a Music Production/Recording software package. These "soft synthes" musical instruments (also known as Virtual Musical Instruments) will include a variety of both sampled real musical instrument sounds and sampled real sound effects. Some midi keyboard controllers use USB cables and can plug into any USB port (“plug and play”) on your computer, and others will use Midi cables to connect to your computer’s audio interface card.
Pack a midi keyboard controller, a laptop computer loaded with your Music Production/Recording software, along with a pair of reference headphones and you will be ready to produce music anywhere! All three of these items can fit into a small studio backpack for ultimate mobility. Imagine being able to be creative while on a long flight, on a beach, or in a hotel room even at 3 A.M. in the morning!
